Five Daily Habits That Bring Me Joy

I thought I'd do something a bit different today. I've been all about the self-care and wellbeing at the moment. So I thought I'd run through the five daily habits that bring me joy. I know, though when life gets hectic and stressful, the last thing we often think of is the little things we enjoy doing. So here are my five little daily habits that bring me joy.

1. Having a bit of morning 'me' time

The first daily habit that brings me joy is making time for a bit of 'me time'. 

To do this, ideally, I try to get up at least an hour before I have to if I can. I use this time to mindfully enjoy my breakfast and a cup of coffee and do things that I want to do.

Just that few minutes of 'me' time, I find I can just prepare myself mentally before the day begins.

2. Journalling

I find journaling really helps to clear your mind. I write down anything I need to remember to clear my mind. If I feel anxious, I write down how I'm feeling, which basically acts as a form of free therapy.

Journaling also gives me a space to write down what I feel gratitude for and positive about. I have a habit of focusing just on the negative at times, so this really helps me to shift my mindset to more positively about life.

3. Learning something new

I aim to learn something new each day. Even if it is just something, I have read. This is a work in progress, but a goal I hope to develop more as we go along.

Last year I did my Masters degree, and although I really enjoyed it, I don't think I want to study to that level or beyond again (for the moment anyway!)

At the moment, I am loving doing Spanish on the free Duolingo app. I've also been exploring mindfulness with a course I found with Be Mindful (not sponsored).

On my list for the future is to learn photography skills and SEO. If anyone has any good course recommendations?

4. Going for a walk

I love walking, although I don't walk quite as much as I used to. I used to walk for miles! Now, I just try to get in my daily steps and go for a walk on my day off.

Although, I did get to do my favourite lockdown walk again on Saturday when my friend popped over for a lovely surprise Birthday visit.

Next year I'm definitely going to start upping my steps again. Haha, I think this is turning into points I need to put on my goals list, isn't it!

5. Watching something that makes me laugh

The last daily habit that brings me joy is watching something that makes me laugh. 

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time for binge-watching box sets. What I do always try to do is make time to watch an episode from a comedy.

At the moment I love watching an episode of Friday Night Dinner when I am getting ready for the day. I find it puts me in a much better mood and really sets me up for the day.
